Dislikes Those who try to make him screw up during his singing or acting, those who insult his friends or (especially) his girlfriend, Sapphire, and lengthy hugs...He is one of the few carbunklian Espers who does not enjoy that type of hug.

Weaknesses Like all Espers, he is vulnerable to having his Magic Energy completely drained — Since he is a creature of pure magic, if he is drained of all of his Magic Energy and does not have it restored in time, he will black out, lose his consciousness, and fall to the ground. If he is not given Magic Energy-restoring item soon after, it could very well result in his death.

Abilities Like all carbunklian Espers, Carbuncle has a permanent magic-deflective aura cast upon him (which is created by the gemstone on his forehead), is naturally creative and multi-talented, especially in the field of music (singing, playing instruments, acting, dancing, etc.), can make almost anyone's voice harmonize well with his own, is inherently considered "cute" by most creatures, and is very agile. Also, due to the structure of his body, he can alter the sound of his voice at will (only needing to work on the accent and tone of the voice to make it sound authentic - this improves with practice), has a strong headbutt, has the use of retractable claws, and can jump high and kick hard.

(Due to the natural sociability and love of music the carbunklian class of Espers are known for, they will commonly form ad hoc groups to see how well the group sounds together - If they sound good, they may regroup together at a later time; otherwise, they will go their separate ways. Groups can be permanent, but this is a very rare occurrence. Usually these groups will be composed entirely of members of their own Esper class, but some groups include non-carbunklian Espers, and a few even have non-Espers.)

Personality Like all carbunklian Espers, he is a rather sociable creature, and his mood can range from playful to serious depending on the situation at hand - When he's not around other carbunklians, he is usually patient and level-headed, and tries to prevent fights from occurring if he can. Also, he is known to become somewhat irritable if given a lengthy hug, however, which may have been the result of one too many hugs by more "childish" creatures over the years...

History He led a normal life in the Esper world until a few years back, when he, like many other Espers, was captured by a few members of an evil empire and put in a chamber to extract his Magic Energy to power their weapons. Eventually, a group of heroes freed him, along with some of his kindred, and he decided to join them in their quest.
After their quest ended, he headed back to the Esper world to catch up on what he missed while he was gone, and tried working on his singing to get his mind off of what happened, maybe even becoming famous with enough practice...A few more years passed, and it was here that he met up with two other carbunklian Espers: Sapphire, and her brother, Diamond. Diamond had wanted to become famous for his musical talents, and Carbuncle, wanting to become famous for his singing, thought it would be a good idea to join him — he did so, and they went and formed the band "Diamond and Carbuncle". Sapphire tagged along to see how the band would turn out...And over time, developed a crush on Carbuncle (he also developed a crush on her as well). The two have rarely gone without seeing each other ever since.
Eventually, Carbuncle, along with the rest of the group, decided they had become famous enough locally in the Esper world, and left it for awhile to begin touring in other worlds...And achieve worldwide fame. Sapphire took a short break from the group to work on her dream to become a famous diva. Carbuncle and Diamond, though, had crossed paths with Ragnarok, another of their Esper kindred, and joined Ragnarok's group for the time to help them with their quest. Eventually, Carbuncle, Diamond, and a few other Espers left with Excalibur to help out with an experiment, and then left Ragnarok's group, rejoined with Sapphire, and went along on their way.
